At Bwera Charity, we believe in empowering women as a foundation for strong, resilient communities. For over 14 years, we’ve worked with women to advance their rights, protect them from abuse, and support them towards self-reliance.
Our advocacy and empowerment projects aim to address challenges faced by vulnerable women, particularly single mothers, and promote their social and economic well-being.
🌸 Ending Domestic Violence
. We advocate for the safety and dignity of women and girls by raising awareness about domestic violence and providing psychosocial support to survivors. Our initiatives aim to:
Educate communities about women’s rights
Promote safe homes and healthy relationships
Offer counseling and referral services for victims of abuse
Through this program, we continue to build a safer environment where women’s voices are heard, and their rights protected.
🌿 The Food Tower Project
.
Also known locally as “Kitchen Gardens”, this project empowers single mothers and vulnerable women to grow affordable, organic vegetables for their families.
Women are supported to set up vertical gardens where they can plant:
Onions
Tomatoes
Spinach
Other green vegetables
This project has improved household nutrition, reduced dependency on expensive market produce, and promoted sustainable urban farming practices.
🐐 The Share a Goat Project
.
A unique community-based initiative where women share and rear goats to uplift each other’s livelihoods.
How it works: A family receives a goat and takes care of it until it produces a kid. The family retains the kid, while the mother goat is passed on to another family. This cycle continues, ensuring every vulnerable woman eventually owns a goat.
The project enables women to:
Improve household income
Access milk for family nutrition
Save for their children’s education and health needs
awareness campaigns
It’s a simple, practical model of empowerment, fostering solidarity and sustainable livelihoods for women in Bwera.
You can stand with us in protecting women’s rights and creating brighter futures. Partner with us by:
