About the Hub
Youth Rehabilitation Hub is a home run by Bwera Charity that supports former street children and vulnerable youth aged 14 to 24. Our mission is to rescue, rehabilitate and empower street youth through music, dance and arts, transform their lives to become self-sufficient and responsible citizens .We medically support the youth to withdraw from drug addictions and provide psychosocial support through performing arts, helping them heal, rebuild confidence, and reintegrate into society.
Central to our work is YOREB Troupe — a vibrant cultural and performing arts group born from the traditional and contemporary music, dance, and drama therapy sessions held at the hub. What began as a therapeutic activity to help youth express themselves, build confidence, and overcome past trauma naturally evolved into a professional performing troupe. Today, YOREB Troupe is hired to perform at weddings, cocktail parties, community festivals, and other social events. The proceeds from these performances directly support the day-to-day running of the hub — funding meals, accommodation, medical care, academic sponsorship, and vocational skills training for other young people in need.
Bwera Charity Project Uganda continues to transform lives by giving young people access to education and qualifications such as certificates, diplomas, and degrees in various fields — thereby changing livelihoods and eradicating poverty in the long run.
What we do
Through YOREB Troupe, youth are trained in traditional Ugandan music, dance, and instruments like Adungu (harps), Emiguddo (royal drums), and traditional dances from over 56 ethnic tribes.
The Youth Rehabilitation hub equips youth with various hands-on skills in driving and mechanics, hairdressing, computer training, tailoring, and crafts, creating paths toward future self-employment and financial independence.
The troupe performs at community functions like weddings, traditional ceremonies, and social gatherings at affordable rates. All proceeds go back into sustaining the rehabilitation program.
Offers faith-based guidance, emotional support, and spiritual mentorship to help youth and families navigate personal challenges and rediscover hope.
Focuses on building emotional resilience, coping skills, and self-awareness through group discussions, activities, and personal reflection sessions.
Engages youth in traditional and contemporary performances as a creative outlet for healing, confidence building, and restoring dignity while promoting talent for future opportunities.
Transforming lives
Some of the youth we’ve supported were former street children or school dropouts with no hope for the future. Today, many are skilled performers, students, and responsible citizens contributing positively to their communities.
Through continued support, some now own small businesses, are self-employed entertainers, or mentors to others in need. The Youth Rehabilitation Hub continues to transform lives by offering dignity, opportunity, and a second chance to vulnerable youth
